hello my frinds
I would like to explain to you that we have a small water treatment unit controlled by small logic controller (micro logic 1200 ) , the unit is out of order this moment due to plc (micro logic 1200 ) fault , the fault indication LED is red flashing which means application fault detected (recoverable ).

We tried to rectify the fault using RS logix 500 version 6.30.00 ,and RS linx version 2.43 .using 1747 UIC interface converter and 1761-CBL-PM02 communication cable.

The specification of the cable bulges are in page 4-16 from the user manual.

The configuration procedures we have used for RS linx are as described below .

Available drive type

RS -232 DF1 devices

Configure RS 232 DF1 devices

Device name AB – DF1 -1

COM device

parity error

none CRC

stop bit protocol

1 full duplex

status

AB-DF1-1 DH485 sta :0 COM 3 port conflict

running

By that configuration , interface ,and cable .we could not able to GO ON LINE to micro logic 1200

With the same configuration ,interface ,an other cable , using rs485 port on the UIC we can GO ON LINE for slc 500 .5/02 ,5/03,5/04

Note

- COM 3 is configured OK (control panel/system/device manager)

- The ON LED on interface is on ( USB port is powered and operational)

- The selector switch SW on the interface is on RS 232(DH485)

-The error message NO RESPOND FROM PROCESSOR ATSELECTED PATHAND NODE

- error 0x4

can you please explain to me the exact configuration of RS LINX using 1747UIC interface converter and 1761- CBL-PM02 for Micro logic 1200

-In the nanual of the ML1200 they mentioned some information abouth Default communication configuration, alsouse of the communication toggel push button

thanks

the 1747-uic only allows connections on devices that are RS 485 a standard
USB adaptor should allow your connection to the micrologix 1200 I use a MT-609 adaptor. Which cable did you get the 502 interface with the 1747-uic?

Your software version may be too old to support a ML1200. If you can't create a temporary offline project using the processor you have in your machine, then you need a s/w update from Allen Bradley. Also, I would update your RXLinx to the latest version.

There may be some confusion on what a 1747-UIC does, it is a direct replacement for the 1747-PIC which interfaced serial ports to devices that used DH-485 comm protocols. the UIC allows you to use a USB port to communicate with devices using DH-485.

With that said the ML 1200 is by default configured for RS232 communications with the OPTION of the user changing it do DH-485.

What this means is the UIC will not work if the controller is set to default RS232 communication. It would work if the "user" had changed communication (on the ML) to DH-485.

What you can do in this situation is obtain a USB to serial adapter and use the PM02 with DF1-RS232 diver in RSlinx.

I personally know that is possible to use an USB to serailadapter to connect with AB plcs using RS232 communication but may or will not work with using a 1747-PIC, hence they developed the UIC.

AB has tested and recommend some USB adapters:

Keyspan USA-19W http://www.keyspan.com/ Win 98, 2000
Keyspan USA-19QW http://www.keyspan.com/ Win 98, 2000

Try this and see if it works for you, hopefully any discrepancies in my reply will be corrected.
