Hi All,

Has anybody had any experience with interfacing VersaMax (master) and Wago I/O (slaves) over DeviceNet?

Thanks,

I'd be interested in the experience with these as well. I
just finished a proposal for a project with VersaMax and
OCS and Mettler Toledo scaleheads, all on DeviceNet
(GE 90-30 Master).

BTW, does GE sell a 'RSNetworx for Devicenet' of their own?

jd, we put a system in not too long ago on DeviceNet. I would have to go back to my notes but much of the DeviceNet stuff could be done with HyperTerminal or a similar program. I do have a handheld controller that is used to establish addressing on the device (that much I remember).

Yes RSnetworx is for DeviceNet or ControlNet:

Made me go look at both my laptops, I have RSNetWorx (thought I did) and RSView (didnt know I had).

I have no idea sometimes why I have some of this stuff, i rarely get to use alot of it.

totally off topic

speaking of things you don't use very often...

I have a laptop loaded with DOS... Why??, you might say.

Well, for good old LOGICMASTER 90-70.

Shame, ain't it. A $10,000 processor with nickel-dime
software.

I have LM90 on my personal laptop but the company I am at now was talked into buying VersaPro, it aint much better.

I have over 60 GE Fanuc 90-30 components and other various components including a fairly complete Yaskawa servo motor, controller and converter that noone seems to want. Thats another story.

We actually run LOGICMASTER 6 on window's 98 machines! That is in a window, not by restarting the machine in dos. This is possible by formatting the hard drive in FAT16 and a slight manipulation of the config.sys file. The only problem we have is that we have to slow the processor speed down to 150Mhz, any faster than that and the series Six interface card fails. We done this to allow us to remote control the PC's, via radio lan, that are connected to the PLC. Very handy for diagnosing faults while sitting in my office!

I thought you might be interested to know this

continuing off topic.....

Very cool, Paul.

Series Six...wow. In a 'previous life', I worked in an aluminum
factory, and the place was loaded with Series Six. We bought
all the IBM workstations we could, in those days, over
www.processor.com. Of course, now you can use eBay. Just
imagine how tough it will be for those who still have Series
Six ten years from NOW.

rsd: We have Versa too, and, like you, I'm unimpressed. Heck, it
had 2 updates, after we bought it, that came before I could even
install it for the first time.

I actually like LOGICMASTER. Its really responsive, but not
terribly feature rich. Of course, I was the one who cried when
ICOM was gobbled up by Rockwell, too. My standard review criteria
for ladder logic software: "It ain't no ICOM."

Back to my original post: I've used DeviceNet with both
VersaMax NIU (Network Interface Unit - DNet slave) and
NCM (Network Control Module - DNet master). The slaves
were able to "see" I/O modules attached to them, and I
had to set their switches for DNet addresses.

The master was different story: the configuration was
done _only_ through VersaPro, by setting I/O length in
the Hardware Configuration and sending proper Service
Request on PLC power up (getting right parameters for
SVCREQ was a real pain!).

Unfortunately, using the same procedure, I haven't been
able and didn't have enough time to completely
configure WAGO I/O (few DINs and DNet coupler).

Is it really possible to use AB software (as previously
suggested in this thread) or Hyperterminal ?(!)
