OPC conectivity for S7 and Intouch

I am trying to Establish link between Step 7 and Intouch 7.1.
I want to use the step 7 tags in Intouch.
I have decided to use OPC client/server configuration.
The hardware/software consit of S7400,CP 443-1 IT and the PC has a standard ethernet card.Step & V5.2 , SIMATIC NET 6.0

I have 2 questions:
1) Can i use the standard ethernet rather than any of the Industrial enternet CP's provided by siemens for the PC.
2) How do i configure the PC as an OPC server and access the tags in Intouch.

1. Yes, fe. I have in HP Omnibook it's own Lan-Connection on the mother-board and it works.
2. Use WW's blue CD-Rom for help 'Comprehensive support knowledge base CD'.

I am also trying to Establish link between Simatic Step 7 and Intouch 7.1, but I don't know that configuration should use. My PLC is CPU 315-2DP. Do I need something more?

Which network are you trying to use Carla? MPI or Profibus, or are you going to add a CP and use Ethernet?


I need more info on what you are trying to do.

The network is profibus.
I have heard of configurations OPC client, OPC server, OPC client/server, DDE. I am very confused, where I can find a manual of the possible configurations to achieve a communication between the intouch and the plc?
