micrologix 1500 printing

Has any attached a printer to channel 1 of a micrologix 1500 LRP processor and successfully printed? If so please help. Thanks

I've got an LRP controller right here on my desk, I'll work along with you if you can tell me more about what you want to do.

First off, what's the printer like ? Is it a real serial printer like a receipt printer or are you using a LaserJet with a serial/parallel converter ?

How have you wired the serial port to it (i.e. did you get Tx-Rx and Rx-Tx correct?). Is it printing incorrectly, or not printing at all? What are the Channel 1 port settings ?

If what you're asking for is application help with the ASCII instructions in the MicroLogix 1500, let us know which commands you're using now and what you expect them to do. The old User Manual for the Micro1500 didn't have the ASCII instruction chapter in it, so make sure you have an update or the new manual (www.ab.com/manuals)

There's a lot of ways to skin this cat, bro, so give us some place to start.

I've done printing applications with SLC-5/03 before, and this is virtually identical. So tell us what you expect, and how that differs from what you're getting.

I never used a forum like this and was surprised the response

I am going to print to a Laser Jet printer. From your response I suspect that I will need a serial-parallel converted between the 1500 comm port and printer. You were correct about the lack of info in the old manual (that is what had me concerned).

My need is no immediate, I just wanted confirmation before I told a customer something that I could not do. If I need other assistance I will post again.
