Does anyone know if I can safely power up a 2 wire 4-20mA analog current loop transmitter, wired to a micrologix 1762-IF4 with a 24VDC power supply as described in the wiring specs, pub no. 1762-IN012A-EN-P pg. 11.
I have doubts, since the analog module is supposed to only be able to receive, according to the specs, not more than 10VDC.
The transmitter can work with a voltage range from 12VDC to 42VDC,
and the same terminals that power up the transmitter are the ones that carry the 4-20mA current signal that the analog module is supposed to receive as input, and I have a 24VDC power supply.
Any help would be appreciatted.

If you have the dip switches set for current, then running 4-20ma thru the
card will result in 5.5 volts (at 20ma) acrossed the card input.
The input impedence in current mode is 275ohms ( see page 19)
A simple series circuit.

Voltage Protection is + or - 30V
Current protection is + or - 32ma

Go for it!!
