CX Simulator Problems

I have CX Simulator as part of the CXOne package and I have noticed a peculiar problem. My PLC is a CJ1M-CPU13, set for Toolbus, COM3, 9600 baud, FIN Address-Network=0, Node=0. Every time I launch the simulator, it starts the simulator menu, and then asks:
"Modem port has been selected. Do you wish to continue?". When answered yes, and communication error "Failed to connect to PLC" crops up. I have tried several different communication settings, but with the same result. I have this installed on my Dell Inspiron 9400 laptop. Interesting thing though, when installed on a desktop, with the same settings, it seems to work fine.

Any suggestions??

CX Simulator version is 1.6.

I don't show a COM3 under device manager (LPT/COM ports), but the on-board modem is configured to access COM3. When I change the PLC type under CX Programmer using ToolBus, the port always defaults to COM3, with no other selection available on the drop down list.

If you post you CX-P file, maybe we could have a look and see if we can replicate the issue...

Pardon my ingnorance, when you refer to a CX-P file, what exactly are you looking for? Please advise.

Ah!!!! Dell and Windblows again.

I have had a similar problem with a HP laptop in the past. Disable the modem.

Have disabled the modem, but in doing so, this deletes the only COM port (COM3) that can be selected from the pulldown list (using Toolbus driver). When adding another serial port in WinXP SP2, the serial drivers have problems loading.

I would be leaving the modem disabled for now and removing and re-installing CX-One. This is a pain as the removal does not work very well. I find I had to uninstall every program one at a time, delete the directory and then use Registery Mechanic to clean out the registery before re-installing CX-One.
