we are taking the flow data from the ROC 809 to SLC 5/04 with a prosoft 3150 MCM, trough modbus over RS485, the roc 809 is sending the data as floating point, you see this in the plc as 2 registers, my programmer says he cant convert those two registers to floating point in the SLC cause it is a 16 bit processor, is this true? do i need anything else (hardware)? to get the right data into the plc, is there some incompatibility?

Personally think the programmer has a few issues

First, the SLC 5/04 has floating point capability.

Second, regardless of how you obtain a number there are ways to use it.

Tell your programmer to come here and explain the situation.
