I have an oportunity to work for PPL in pennsylvania this is Pennsylvania Power and Light. I went for a test in Harrisburg and it was called the CAST test.
We were told by the guy there we were 30 out of 700 applicants and that was all they were testing was us. There are 20 jobs available. He said if you do well you are almost certain to get an offer. I would be working at the Generation Plants. The closest to me being Nuclear.
I know I did well, but have a few reservations. Namely the travel involved. When I answered the ad it said for the local station. Then I get there for the test and it is a job to travel between a few plants. Some up to 2 hours away and as close as 45 minutes. Although you get paid travel and room and board. And it is eventual that you will be placed at a station.

This job is called an Electrical/helper. Which starts in at 21.05 but you can go to Journeyman which is 34.xx an hour right now.

I guess my question is if anyone is familiar with these types of jobs and what you think of them. It would be even better if someone here knows more about PPL. I know it is a great company to work for. I just feel bad cause this was my first week at another job. But I have been applying to PPL for 2 years.

No just wondering if anyone has experience with this type of job. It would be a pay cut to start with as I would make about 70 at current job. But the long run it seems like it would be better.
