Converting a xxxxxxx.tar.gz file, to a working program

Dear friends,

Can someone explain in detail how to make a working program out of a xxxxxx.tar.gz file.
I have never been able to do this.

It is a kind of zip file, Winzip and other programs will open them.

xxxx.tar.gz is an archive (compressed)

Use this or WinZip to unzip it

A tar.gz (also known as a tarball) is a Linux archive. But like others said, Winrar will open it.
