Hi
iam using the PG2000 program to do programming to the simatic S5 plc, is there any software that could be used with it to communicate with the S5 CP's or any stand alone software

As I remember all software used to communicate with S5 CP's (Siemens calls it COM's) requires existence of Step5 and should be called from Step5. Many of COM's require CPM emulation given by Step5, they are *.cmd files. The only software that can be used without Step5 is COM Profibus used for programming of IM308.
