Hi guys,

I've a customer looking for support for one of their Siemens PLC. Need to go online to check on the analog output which is not functioning.

I check with them on the model of PLC they are using, but from the front of the PLC CPU they only manage to see Simatic T-1435. For the analog module they can only see a label with U-01DA or U-01AD.

The CPU has a 25-pin port for programming and a 9-pin port for HMI.

It's a black color PLC.

Does anybody knows if these are S5, S7 or even older Siemens PLC?

Thanks in advance.

Hello ckchew666;

Sounds like a TI435 CPU, originally by Texas Instrumwents, bought by Siemens around 1996, sold then as a Simatic TI435.

You can find all information, manuals, hardware on the Automation Direct homepage:
http://web2.automationdirect.com/adc/Shopping/Catalog/PLC_Hardware/DirectLogic_405

It is now sold as a DL-405 series.
From the AD cross-reference site (http://support.automationdirect.com/docs/xref.html)
the U-01DA is now available as D4-02DA:

Hope this helps,

Daniel,

Thanks a lot for your info, it's a great help for me.

From your explaination, the TI435 is originally by Texas Instrument, then bought over by Siemens and sold as Siemens, later Siemens sell the product to DirectLogic?

Actually, that product has always been made by Koyo, but it was labeled for many companies, including TI. AutomationDirect now sells the product. Siemens did not sell it to AD.

So, it's consider as made from Koyo, not TI as claim by Daniel?

Is this product obsolete or still available in the market, I mean the analog module and the programming software/cable for TI435 CPU?

I'm in dilemma dunno who to contact for suppot/service.

Hello ckchew666;

You are not familiar with Automation Direct products, or you would know that their website is one of the best in the business.
The link I gave you earlier to the DL405 PLC hardware also takes you to this page on programming software and programming cables for the TI405 family:
http://web3.automationdirect.com/adc/Shopping/Catalog/PLC_Hardware/DirectLogic_405/Programming_SW_-a-_Cables

You can find and download any manual you need for hardware or software issues on their products. Pricing (US dollars) is also available.

Hope this helps,

Siemens should support it, too. They'll call it the TI435.

AD will support it as the DL405.

Koyo makes it, but I don't know that they have any public support channels.

TI435 communication using 505 workshop

Hi Daniel;
I also have a TI435 controller in a plant being re-located in Jinan, China. We have mostly Siemens 505 and are using 505 workshop to communicate. We have some TI520/TI530 processors and Worshop will communicate with them. Should we be able to communicate with the TI435 using workshop or do we have to buy a DirectSoft5 software. The logic is in old TISoft.
I think I know the answer, just hoping you'll know of a way not to spend an extra $400 for DirectSoft5 for just that one controller. Thanks for your help.

Sorry Neil;
If I rember correctly, the full name for the software form FastTraks was "505 Workshop", and it was dedicated to the programming of the Siemens/TI 505 family (535, 545, 555 CPUs).
You cannot use it for the 405 family of processors.
You will need to go to the DirectSoft option.
Hope this helps,
