So here is the scoop:

I've searched the threads high and low for info and i've come really really close.

My most recent findings:
""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""
Then depending on what PLC he is connecting too, he'll need a different cable.
Micro-1200 I believe he said:

Protocol PanelView Standard Comm Port

FROM:
RS-232 (DF1) Communication Port (9-pin)
PanelView 300 - 1400
2711-xxx16, 2711-xxx17

TO:
MicroLogix 1000, 1200,
1500LSP
CH0 (8-pin Mini DIN)
(DF1 or DH-485)
DF1

USE A:
2711-NC21 (16ft/5m)
2711-NC22 (49ft/15m)
(null modem not required)(1)
""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""

Story:

My problem is pv300 (DF1) to ML 1100 (mini 8) communication. AB's tech support for our local area is stumped, and i mean stumped. I tried a pm-02 in conjunction with a gender bender null modem db9.. no dice. I then tried a home made db9 gender bender with pins 2& 3 Crossed, no dice either! I then found post and called about the 2711-nc21 and they said it was 30 days from being to us. I've got a deadline of 2 days to get these pumps working with this new plc and panelview.

Question:
What is the pin config of the 2711-NC21

Thanks!

Josh

.

I was assured with pins 2&3 Crossed, i would be good to go, maybe i'm missing something in configuration. This is the first time working with the standard model of PV so maybe i missed something. Anyone have any suggestions?

All i get is the classic: "Panelview Offline 686" so i know its communication error.

I tried using one of AB's AIC's and i had no luck either.

I dont have the capabilities to make mini-8's so i need to figure out a way to use a pm-02 with some sort of adapter to match up to my df1 port on the pv. Who knows if that is even possible?

i tried the first source of info and made a quick adapter and left 2-3 straight and crossed 7& 8. then retried. No worky.

I wonder if the mean for this to terminate through the AIC?

Alternatives:

Use a 1761-CBL-PM02 or a 2711-CBL-PM05 with a null modem adapter.

Or, add a 9 to 9 pin adapter to the NC21 cable with pins 7 and 8 crossed. But don't recross

pins 2 and 3, they are already crossed.

I will make a cable off second source and use

2-4
3-7
5-2

think this will work with the pm02? is it straight pin config?

.

made the other cable, no luck.

It feels like a configuration error, I've tried way too many cables and tricks for it not to be. I'm thinking about grabbing another 1100 and giving it a try, this one may have some kinks. Let me check channel 0 though.

QUESTIONS:
Have you been able to connect to your ML1100 from your PC using RSLinx's
DF1 driver ( if not make sure you can)( PC to ML1100 needs a null modem cable 1761-CBL-PM02 ?
Does the ML1100 have a program in it?
Have you been able to connect to the PV300 from your PC using RSLinx
DF1 driver ( this requires a straight thru cable ) Your can get one from your local Radio Shack or Best Buy.
Does the PV300 have a program in it?

If you can connect ML1100 to PC and PV300 to PC then the ports are ok.

Post your offline file for your ML1100 (.RSS) and your PV file (.PBA)
someone can take a look.
