Hello everyone,
I wonder if anybody has had any experience with a device called "MotorBoss". It is manufactured by a UK Company, Somar International. This device is meant to be used with 3 phase induction
squirrel cage motors. In addition to providing a soft start and soft stop features it apparently also improves the power factor of the motor and reduces the excess magnetizing currents when motor load falls below 70%. This apparently results in energy savings on
motors with varying loads. In other words, if the motor is always
running above the 70% load mark it will not do much.
I would like to use this device but in order to verify its performance I will have to come up with some benchmark data.
It would help me to hear about other people's experiences.
