Dear all,

i have been traped in a trouble, i need to creat a totalizer for flow metering in the plc, the signal is comming from flow transmitter is 4-20mA. Pls help me to create this logic in plc.

Best Regards

Hello daniyal;

Knowing the hadrware/software you plan to use would probably bring more precise answers, but in the meantinme here is a thread that covers the theory behind this, with some examples:
http://www.plctalk.net/qanda/showthread.php?t=34269&highlight=Flow+totalizer

To work with this example, you will need to scale your 4-20 mA signal to gpm units, so the calculations will deal with flow from beginning to end.

Hope this helps,
Daniel Chartier

u should translate the 4-20 to flow
u can use a clock to add the flow rate to the totalizer.
note that the 4-20 ma sometimes is not proportinal to flow rate , but flow rate^2 , if u are using a dp device
