Hi, we have just started a project where we are supposed to build 2 machines together instead of the usual 1 machine we have always done before.
Usually we have a S7-300 cpu with 2 ET200S distributed IO connected with profibus, it has been decided that we are going to build 2 identical machines and let one of the S7-300 be in charge of the machine security and the second only charge of operation of its machine.
When we asked siemens what communication possibilities we have between the cpu:s they said that the cpu:s couldnt be in the same profibus network and each have control over their respective Distributed IO:s, and they recommended MPI communication between the CPU:s.
Is there any other ways to do this when we need communication between 2 CPU:s but still they both need their 2 Distributed IO:s each?
(they will both be connected to one ethernet switch together with 2 HMI)
