Theyre not so much of a PLC as an RTU/Flow Computer. Yes I have heard of them and bumped into a few but theyre pretty specialist, much like the Fisher ROC and Ferguson Beauregard RTU's.
They're used virtually exclusively in the Oil & Gas industry for well monitoring & control.
