First time Mitsubishi woes

I have written a ladder logic program for a Mitsubishi FX-1S using the freeware version of GX Developer-FX version 8.25B.

I have created Device Comments without difficulties, but I've run into a problem with rung comments (Statements). I can add a statement to a rung, but when I try to convert (compile) the rung, the only way GX Developer lets me do it is when I'm connected to the PLC. Since it won't let me save an unconverted program, is there no way to create and save rung comments offline?
