Panelview Upload

Recently I did an upload from a Panelview 550 so we could trouble shoot an alarm tag but when I went to open the upload, Panelbuilder 32 would not open it. Does the same software version that created the program have to be used to open/edit the program?

yes - if the app was created with a newer version than you have, it will seem to upload but will not open.

Version 3.80 (?) had some pretty major changes. (My favorite, among other things, a lot more colors, and re-sizeable bitmaps)

But, I have found that app's created in the 3.80 and newer will not open in earlier versions of PB32....

Dears Rockwell-Software, MS and others, please make revisions for the propertys, not software versions and check property-revisions when uploading, so we can use propertys if we have them in older software.
I understand, they like sail new updates every day for me.

If it was you who made the PanelView application, then you allready have the same version of the software.

If you are asking to be able to load somebody elses project from the PanelView and still be able to open it with an older version of the software - then I think you are asking for too much.

It's a great feature to be able to upload, but you can't ask the software programmers (the creators of the HMI software I mean) to look backwards all the time, they should be able to add new features with backwards compatibility (without having to think too much about forward compatibility).

For PLC's you can typically convert the code to a simple format (statement list or the likes) and then load this into the old software if possible.
But HMI's are all about communication drivers, fonts, colors, graphics, animations and so forth - its too difficult to make forward compatible.
