OK, I talked with a siemens rep regarding my desire to access a PLC over the internet. He suggested that I needed as follows:

HARDWARE

- Scalance S612
- Ethernet switch X208
- S7300 CP343-1 communication processor

SOFTWARE

- SoftNet VP client
- WinCC flexible (maybe)

Does it take all of this to connect to a CPU 315-2 PN/DP
processor via internet, is there maybe an easier and/or
less expensive way? The plant already has a dedicated DSL
line, and there is an existing Scalance X108 switch in
the panel connected to the CPU. After looking at some
documentation, though it does look more and more that some
type of communication processor will be necessary for
ANY setup to work. I will also need access to the Lenze
drives and the Simatic touch panel on the existing Profibus.
All help is appreciated.
