Modicon 584 & 684 to PC connection?

I have to restart a production line that uses a Modicon 584 (1600+ I/O) and a Modicon 684. I have not worked with modicon before.
Can these PLCs be connected to PC and where I can find the interface and SW needed, or using a 190 programmer is the only way?
