We have a remote cabinet with drives that have the Safe stop option : cutting of the 24V of the power stage cutts off the motor in safety cat 3. Can we use a wire in a multicore to transport the 24V for the cuttof of the drive in case also the 24 V that is always on is also in this multicore? Or do we have to use separate wires? I know that you can discuss about that, but what does the safety reglementation says about that?
Thanks

The safety regulations BASICALLY say that any one failure should not cause a failure of the safey system. Therefore every thing possible should have redundancy (2 or more paths).

There are not any electrical codes (that I know of) that prohibit wires of the same voltage but different functions from being in the same cable.

If you look at the manufacturer's literature I think you will find that you have to use a seperate shielded cable to the safe stop input. If you use a multi-core then there is a danger that a short between cores can occur and hold the stop function on, this is not safe. For cat 3 you also need to ensure that the device switching the safety input is cat 3, such as a safety relay.
