Siemens cpu314 profibus cp342-5

i have a siemens cpu314(without profibus port) with a cp342-5 profibus card on the rack....if i try to add slaves to the network it shows them as inactive....(greyd out).Is there any special fc i need to use if i use the cp342-5 as master?

I never used a CP 342-5 for simple I/O but to access data consistently I had to use the DP_SEND and DP_RECV command. I don't remember which SFC numbers these are.

This must have been an old CPU to which you added Profibus DP I/O. In the future you should buy the S7s with Profibus DP in the main CPU because it is much faster. The CP 342-5 wastes a lot of time transferring data across the back plane.

Can you post a screenshot ?

Do you get any error messages when you save-and-compile ?
