Hi All

I have a lot of TI and S7 PLC as well as AB. I have a SMS Module from AB from which I am sending SMS notifications out. I want to do the same for the TI and S7 PLC's. Can I send a message block from TI to S7 PLC over ethernet? Do you get a SMS module for S7 or TI?

Thanks

All the PLC's are remotly situated and I have only Ethernet access.

Hello Hilgard;
In this FAQ from Siemens, you will find 3 options for Ethernet connections between a TI505 and a S7-300/300 PLC; the choice will mostly depend on the hardware available on the TI PLC (note that the FAQ dates from 2004; newer CPx43-1 support both TCP and ISO-over-TCP connections).

You will also have access to specific FAQs for the connection type you select.
Hope this helps,
Daniel Chartier

Edit: In case you need to study the TCP/IP connection (with CP2572) in more detail, here is a link to the Control technology applications page; they developped the TI modules for Siemens while the product was sold as Simatic 505; they now propose a new line of CPUs that enhances the old TI505-1106 potential, along with new communication processors:
