1794-ASB module with analog... HELP!!!

Hi I found this forurm and since AB tech support isn't really any help I figured I would try here.

I have a SLC5/05 processor in a 7 slot rack. Slot 1 has a 1746-IO12DC Combination module. Slot 2 has a 1746-NIO4V. Slot 3 has a 1747-SN Scanner module. I have a remote rack set up as follows.. 1794-ASB with 1794-IB16, 1794-IB8, 1794-OW16, 1794-IE4XOE2.

I have it set up as Rack 1. The dip switches are set up as follows - S1, all on except #6 - S2, all on except #3 & #6.

I am able to get the discrete I/O on the remote rack without any trouble. The 1794-IB16 is at I:3/128 - 143. The 1794-IB8 is at I:3/160 - 167 and the 1794-OW16 is at O:3/160 - 175.

I am told I have to do BTW and BTR to obtain the analog and I am not familiar at all with this. I have tried to read manuals and do this on my own to no avail. I don't understand where I am to get the analog data from or how to write to the analog outputs.

Anyone got any ideas? Sorry for the lenght of the post just wanted to be thorough.

Yes, you will need to use Block Transfers if you put your Analog IO module in the remote chassis.

But you have indicated spare slots in the master chassis, if possible (wiring constraints etc.), put your new analog card in there and auto-configure.

Sorry for this short post got to go. I would do a search for Ron Beaufort and mailman. Ron does a great job explaining the complicated.

Hoepfully you have a relatively new (past 3 years or so) SLC-5/05 with OS501 Series C FRN 3 or later firmware that supports BTR and BTW instructions. You can use the older M-file buffer method, but the BTR and BTW instructions are far simpler to understand and use.
