op17 problem

I am facing a problem in op17 dp (order nr. 6AV3 617-5BB00-0AB0). I have a backup taken by PROSAVE. As the panel is no more available in Siemens. I have to go to a compatible panel. But prosave backup cannot be restored in the new panel. Would anybody please give me a solution or give me any information of the availability of the identical op17? Please help.

Prosave is just a service tool that allows you to make a backup of a hmi config from the device and download it to a similar device.
Do you have the original OP17 project? i guess not.

OP-17 Repair

My Siemens Rep offers repair of OP-17 screens and you also can get replacements and repairs here PLC Center but it's not cheap either way.

Hi SHYAMAL, has you said, Prosave can't be used. You can only use Prosave if you want to install the project in another OP-17. If you want to use the new OP177B (replacement for OP-17), you will have to redo all the project using the WinCC Flexible. the best thing to do, is to repair the old one (DesertDog), or buy an used OP-17 on Ebay etc. I'm not sure, but I think Siemens still supplies the old OP's has replacements only. Please check with your Siemens rep.

Thank you for the reply. Yes I know it that PROSAVE backup can only be restored in an op identical to the op from which the backup is taken by PROSAVE. That’s why I am searching for an exact replacement.

In this context, I need to know whether op17/dp of type 6AV3617-1JC20-0AX0, 6AV3617-1JC20-0AX1 or 6AV3617-1JC20-0AX2 is a replacement the op17/dp of 6AV3617-5BB00-0AB0 what I have. i.e., whether the backup taken (by PROSAVE) from op17/dp of type 6AV3617-5BB00-0AB0 can be restored in any of the three ops I mentioned. The type, 6AV3617-5BB00-0AB0, is not found in the product list of SIEMENS. So, it may be a customized product. Would anybody please help in this regard?

I Shyamal, I finally found the ref. 6AV3617-5BB00-0AB0 in a 2003 Siemens HMI catalog (ST80), and it is a customized design equivalent to the type 6AV3617-1JC20-0AX? (the ? means the revision level). In this case you can use the Prosave to restore the project in the new HMI.

With the equivilent information (I wonder what the actual customisation was???) you could try this company (we used them recently to repair 2 old failed IP266 modules. They both now work!

Maybe expensive to ship to them etc. I suspect you may have people nearer?

They could repair yours, or for speed you could just purchase that equivilent model?
