PV 300 connected to a micrologix 1200 using DF1

Hi everyone,

I have a DF1 PV300 (AB p/n: 2711-K3A17L1) connected to a Micrologix 1200 (AB p/n: 1762-L24BXBR) using cable 2711-NC21. I am using 1761-CBL-PM02. I can see the plc in rslogix (using the RS232 DF1 driver). However I do not see the panelview. Do I need to enable the DF1 pass through or do I have the wrong cable? Also, this is a brand new panelview so it defaults to the configuration mode screen and alarms with Error 1110 becuase there is no program existing on the unit.

Please let me know what to do to get this going.

Your ML1200 does not support passthru. And yes you will need to load a program in your PV. Do have PanelBuilder32 software for programming your PV? Cable is correct ( straight thru cable)

Yes I have panelbuilder32. How can I setup the panelview to communicate with the plc and my laptop all at the same time?

You cannot do it at the same time.
Program your ML1200. Make a note of how the HMI/Program port is configured. Then make sure your PV's port is configured the same.

I saw that and was figuring that was the case. However, this knowledgebase article hints at being able to do it with a pv550 and a ml1200. My plc has the second comm port.

Ok. As the KB says, if you want to see both ML1200 and your PV at the same time you will need the port splitter or a PV with DH485 protocol.
Just having the second port on your ML1200 does not do this for you.

pv550 help

hi mickey and all,,!

i have same problem,,,i have pv550 2711-b5a5, when i start it error 111o appears,,,and no valid application found,,

what should i do now?? i have pannel builder in my laptop but not serial port to communicate,,!

Can you open the file with Panelbuilder32? If so save it as a *.PBA file and try to download it.

thanks for ur reply,,!

one more questin is that
i am little confuse ,,that 1747-uic serial port attached to pv550 is male and same male port with pv550,,
so how i attached directly 1747-uic serial cable to pv550?
should i need male to femlae convertor? or any other way??

You need a 2711-NC13 cable (striaght thru cable) see page 6 of manual attached.

and mickey can u give me steps to interface pannel builder and to upload programme on my computer,,,?
and also what if i use serial port of my old PC instead of going of 1747-uic and 2711-nc13? waht should i do require for this..!

With a real serial port on your PC you can use a straight thru cable and the 1747-PIC/AIC+ driver in RSLinx.
What operating system do you have in your PC?
If Windows XP SP3 there are issues when using this driver, there is a patch for it though. See link.

The memory card method for upload/download is always a good option.
