Forgive me for posting a similar thread on the OMRON forum of MRPLC.COM [http://forums.mrplc.com/index.php?showtopic=14851] but thought that posting here may target a wider audience.
I need to communicate cost effectively between the RS232 Serial port of a PLC to a single CanOpen device.
A full gateway is both overkill and too expensive a solution.
I am looking at using a Serial RS-232 to CanOpen dongle for this purpose.
The serial side will connect to the RS232 port of the PLC and communicate with TX/RX communication frames to the CAN device.
I have found two units that appear to be suitable for this purpose:-
http://www.gridconnect.com/gc-can-rs232.html
http://www.can232.com/
Has anyone got experience [good/bad] to share on using this method to connect to CanBus and suggestions as to which hardware to select??
Any examples of PLC Code/Protocol Macros etc. would of course be much appreciated.
