Will someone with an Ab service contract look up this answer 47758 and post it. We have a service contract, but I have always logged in with with my old login and I wont be able to find out contract # for a couple more hours.

Or better yet perhaps someone can help with our problem.

It says that the access path specified references the old computer in the options. It says for more info on moving the RSSql config to another comp. refer to AID 9234.

RSSql RSLinxOPC connector error: Connection failed; verify RSLinx is running as a System Service, hr = 0x800706ba

QuestionDatapoints associated with my RSLinx connector don't work since I moved my RSSql configuration to a new computer. The RSLinx connector error log contains the following error:

Answer
The access path specified in access options references the old computer. For more information on moving a RSSql Configuration to another computer refer to AID 9234

This is AID 9234

Moving a RSSql configuration from one computer to another - Checklist.
Here is a list of things to check when moving a RSSql configuration from one computer to another.
RSSql configuration path

If local, the same local path will be used on the new computer. Change it as needed.

If UNC, then create a share on the new computer and change the UNC path to point to the new computer.

Host name, user name and password for each RSSql connector.

Change the host name to reference the new computer.

If the computer is standalone or in a workgroup, change the username and password to reference local users on the new computer. If using domain accounts, change the username and password as needed.

Error log path, Cache file path.

If local, the same local paths will be used on the new computer. Change them as needed.

If UNC, then create a share on the new computer and change the UNC paths to point to the new computer.

DDE connector

Create DDE topics on the new computer by the same names as used originally.

If a tag file is used, either copy the file to the same path specified, or copy the file and change the path accordingly.

RSLinx OPC connector

Create OPC topics on the new computer by the same names as used originally.

Click the "Change Device" button then browse to the target device from this computers point of view (creates an OPC access path from this computer). Do this for each device in the configuration.

If a tag file is used, either copy the file to the same path specified, or copy the file and change the path accordingly.

RSView32 connector

  1. Click the "Edit Project Name" button to change the RSView32 OPC host name.
  2. Uncheck "Rename datapoints and update transaction bindings" checkbox
  3. Append a character to end of project name
  4. Click OK
  5. Repeat 1, 2
  6. Remove extra character at end of project name
  7. Click OK
Generic OPC connector

Click the "Host Node" button to change the host name to the new computer.

ODBC connector

Create an ODBC System DSN on the new computer by the same name as used originally.

Oracle OCI connector

Use the Oracle client tools (Net8 easy config, or Net8 configuration assistant) to configure client connectivity to an Oracle database server (this creates entries in the tnsnames.ora file). Create the same Oracle service names as used originally.

Microsoft OLE-DB connector

  1. Select the original Connection Name and copy it. ie: \\computer1\rssqldb
  2. Select the new Server Name. ie: Computer2
  3. Click the Refresh button and select the database
  4. Paste the original Connection Name over the newly autonamed Connection Name
  5. Click the Apply button
Note: Be sure the either the "old" computer or the computer that you are moving the configuration to is off the network otherwise both computers will fight for the configuration and lockups may be experienced.

The problem was that Linx lite was installed and the license wouldn't verfy. Our IT guy said that is what came on the CD?

Linx Lite is always what you get unless you have an activation for something higher.
