hello

im trying to connect s7 200 plc with computer software (opc client)
buy using an opc server on the same computer
so im worried about the plc/opc server connection
should i buy an ethernet module to be able to do that?
is it possible with Profibus dp (the s7-200 can be a slave only)?
any other communication options?

thanks in advance for any help

The OPC Server from Siemens is called PC Access (6ES7840-2CC01-0YX0). It works with PPI and ethernet.
There are several 3rd party suppliers which you can locate easily with a little web searching.

anyways i was wondering if i can include another device into the ppi/usb cable
is there a ppi cable with more than 2 ends?

what advantage does ethernet give over ppi cables?

Cable with more than 2 PPI ends? no, I don't think so.

what advantage does ethernet give over ppi cables?

You can't find a PPI switch.
