The following is from the Siemens Web Site.....
The CPUs 928A/B have been redesigned and now require only one slot space.
A RAM with maximum capacity has been integrated in the module.
Memory cards with Flash EPROMs are used instead of the previous EPROM or RAM submodules.
The new CPUs 928 are functionally fully compatible with the existing modules.
The technical specifications and the runtimes of the new modules are nearly identical to those of the existing CPUs.
This assures functional compatibility.
The runtimes of some operations of the CPU 928A are up to 10 % shorter, however.
The standard FBs for IPs and CPs can be re-used
The following should be noted when using the new modules as replacements:
The new module requires one slot space only.
If it replaces an existing CPU, a front cover must be added to ensure proper cooling.
Alternatively, any other module (see manual) can be plugged into the vacant slot.
The new CPUs require only 0.6 A of supply current.
When configuring a new system or in the case of a replacement, the minimum permissible current load of the power supply needs to be taken into consideration
Hope this helps,
Steve
