AB ML1100 - What version RS Logix500?

Hi,

I have a ML1100 SerB plc (1763-L16BBB), and RS Logix 500 ver 7.00.00 (CPR 7) Build 19.

When doing a new project the only option for ML1100 is 1763 Ser A. Will it work or do I need an update?

It will work, you can download a Series A project to a Series B controller. However, you will not be able to use any features that were added in the Series B firmware. I believe RSLogix 500 v.7.20 has the Series B option for the 1100 processor.

Thanks for the info. DO you know if its a free or chargable upgrade from 7 to 7.2?

It usually depends on how old your software is. You can go to http://www.rockwellautomation.com/support/downloads.html and follow the link for Software Updates to see if you can download an update (Looks like the latest for RSLogix 500 is 8.10). Otherwise, you'll have to talk to a distributor.

you can have problems opening a .rss file created for the series B processor
software may report unrecongnised file format error i had this happen with some of my customers after i sent them a file
