If I have a CompactLogix 1769-L35C that communicates using ControlNet. Can I get a ethernet card to communicate via ethernet.

If you only have a controlnet card to the left of the processor, you can add one more.
Only 2 cards are allowed to the left of the L35.
 
That only works for the 1768 processors not the 1769. Your only option would be to use a net-eni card to the serial port for RS232 ot Ethernet communication.
