Hello

I would like to network some distributed SLC5/03 processors using only DH485. I was wondering if I can use 1747 NET-AIC interfaces at every SLC to link them to the single DH485 trunk, instead of using 1747-AIC couplers. Is it still a good idea?, I just want to keep them isolated for the DH-485.

DH+ and Ethernet are not options for my application.

If anyone can advice or has had previous experience with NET-AIC for isolation, thanks for any advice !!

Thanks again.

Did you mean 1761-NET-AIC's instead of 1746-NET-AIC's?

We use the exact network structure in our plant. We've got 5 or 6 SLC 5/03's each with an RS232 cable going to the AIC+ (1761-NET-AIC) which gives them all connectivity to the main-network, while they all maintain an internal DH-485 network using the other communications port.

The main-trunk as you described it, does get pretty slow though.

Hope this helps,
-Dave
