Hi:

I need to connect to a Gefran drive that has a RS-485 port with DB-9. The software manual indicates that with an RS-232 to RS-485 adapter I can make the connection from my PC serial port.

I have an ATEN IC485SN adapter, but the output in "point to point" mode has four wires Tx+, Tx-, Rx+ and Rx-. The RS-485 port just use Tx/Rx+, Tx/Rx- and ground (like all RS-485 ports that I have worked).

The question is how to make the connection. Just joining Tx+ with Rx+ and Tx- with Rx- in the adapter?

Thanks!

Yopu are correct. That's the place to start
Rx+ jumpered to Tx+
Rx - jumpered to Rx -

Some adapters require a setting change, like a jumper, to deal with 2 wire (Half duplex)

Ok, thanks for your answer, the adapter has two switches to configure modes, I will have to "lay" with that after jump the terminals. Thanks!
