PV300 to PC cable question

Quick question....
Can I just add a null modem adapter to the 1747-CP3 cable that I use between my SLC 5/05 and my PC to connect my PV300 (2711-K3A17L1) to the PC? I'm trying not to buy the 2711 cable that A-B says to use. (That model PV uses DF1 protocol)
