Can someone tell me what K1, K2 and K3 stand for in Safety Relays. Why the letter "K"?

´K´ is the device designation letter for a relay according to EN61346
The latest version of the EN61346 would give a Safety Relay a designation letter ´F´as its primary function is to protect.
