AB PV550 Firm ware questions

I am installing an AB panelview 550 and can't seem to communicate with it I've tried going thru a slc 504 and also direct connection thru the com port but am having no luck. I have logged on to other machines to make sure I can communicate to other plc's and panelviews and that works. Could the firmware verson cause a conflict? that is the only difference I have seen.

Your PV has a RS232 port with DH485 protocol. If your PC has a real serial port then use a straight thru cable and the 1747-PIC/AIC+ driver in RSLinx to communicate with the PV.
If you do not have a real serial port the the 1747-UIC ( USB to DH485 converter) will be needed to connect.

You could use a passthru connection thru your SLC5/04 ( DH+ to DH485).
You would need to connect to the SLC's DH+ port then passthru to the serial port configured for DH485. Processor would have to be configured for passthru comm. Of course extra hadware is required to connect to the DH+ port.
