Hi guys,
I have a SLC 5/03 with one free DH-485 port.
I need to transmit some data from the PLC to PC for monitoring.
There is only Ethernet/IP network available near the PLC.
Can I use a (DH-485 to Ethernet/IP) converter to transmit the data to the remote PC.
On the PC side I was going to use KEPServerEX as OPC driver.
There is also a converter abvailable on the market like Datalink DL4500
http://www.protocolconverter.com/products/dl4500EDH485.htm
But the problem I faced is I got a response from Kepware saying:
--------------------------------
We support DH-485, but only using these supported Allen Bradly cards.
Supported Network Cards
AB 1784-KT
AB 1784-KTX(D)
AB 1784-PKTX
AB-1784-PKTX(D)
AB 1784-PCMK/B
SST 5136-SD-ISA
SST 5136-SD-PCI and SST 5136-DHP-PCI
Best regards,
-----------------------------------
So I have 2 quiestions:
1) What's the point of those DH-485 / Ethetrnet converters then ?
2) Is there another solution?
I suspect that the following scheme will not work:
[PLC with DH485]----[DH485/Ethernet converter]---------ethernet-----------[PC with KEPServerEX]
But maybe this one works:
[PLC with DH485]----[DH485/Ethernet converter]---------ethernet--------[Ethernet/DH485 converter]------------[PC with KEPServerEX]
Thanks
Regards
Mike
