Micrologix 1500 & Microscan MS-820 Communication Problems

I'm using a Microscan MS-820 bar code scanner to scan bar codes on plastic parts. I have everything setup, but cannot get the scanner to communicate with the 1500. I'm using Chan0 for the HMI, and Chan1 will be used for the scanners. The orange LED will not light up on Comm1, and when going into the channel configuration menu in RSLogix, Chan1 is filled with zeros which is telling me that it is either disabled, or not working at all. The Baud rates and everything match....

You need both the channel configuration and some ladder logic to bring in the buffer data from Channel 1 into memory.

Post your program file or excerpts from it and folks may be able to help.

This might be a good opportunity for users to share some "best practices" ladder code for managing Channel 1 of the MicroLogix 1500 in an ASCII input application.
