G'day,
I was wondering if there is a solution to this problem I have. We have a production line with 15 Siemens PLC's. They vary from S7-313C, S7-315 2 DP to S7-400's. They are all networked via MPI and we use this for some small data transfer between machines.
What I was wondering is if there is a way to link one of the PLC's with an ethernet card and then to a wireless router, so that we could fault find and monitor all of the PLC's on the network via our laptop (which has a wireless card in it).
If we have to put an ethernet card in every PLC it would cost too much just for hardware alone, and I figured the MPI cable is already there?
Or is another solution that I get a CPU with the industrial ethernet and replace it with one of the existing CPU's and access the MPI that way?
Thanks for your help... Cheers.
