Hi,

Anyone have experience on this issue, please give me a guidance. Thanks :)

My setup:

I've 2 local SLC 5/05 (slot 0) chassis with 1747-BSN at slot 1. The setup for both local chassis is the same.

I've a remote chassis with:
slot 0 = 1747-ASB
slot 1 = 1746-NI16V
slot 2 = 1746-OB32
slot 3 = 1746-IB32
slot 4 = 1746-IB16

1) I'm not sure what is the programming I/O assignment for the analog and the digital modules. The analog require a Block Transfer? Does 1746-Ni18V module need to configure every bit for proper operation like 1794-IE8 or 1771-IFE?

2) The 1746-OB32 will use O:1.0 & o:1.1? 1746-IB32 will use I:1.0 & I:1.1? 1746-IB16 will use I:1.2? Correct me if I'm wrong.

3) Came across a Knowledgebase indicate that we can use 2 or more IB32 side by side when using 1 slot addressing.

Thanks.

Hi. Forget the 1 slot, half slot etc addressing. That is not used in an SLC, only a PLC.

I presume you are familiar with the RSLogix format. Just go to the left hand panel to IO configuration and add an IB32 card. Now have a look at the input table. Do the same with an output. Try an OB32 and an OB16. See the relationship.

Do the same with your analog card. Add a class 1 card and a class 3 card. (They are physically the same card, you just configure the output word to enable the class 3 actions) Look at the input table and also the output table. You will notice words in the output table for the input card. This is how you configure your card.
(ie no block transfer).

With this knowledge then have a read of the manual. Regards Alan Case

I just re-read the question. I didnt notice the rack was remote with an ASB.

I/O is sometimes confusing.

You can download all the info you need here at the AB manuals online link for the I/O you have. Alan's advice is solid, just try it and you will find how easy it is to work with the SLC as opposed to the PLC especially when it comes to analog I/O.
