Just found this site. What a wealth of information! I have a machine that is controlled by a Toshiba M20 PLC. We are borrowing the machine until the new one we are having built is finished. Problem is I need to make some small changes in the program to get it to work with our material. Does anyone in or around have a Toshiba Handy, Mini, or even a Graphic I could rent or borrow? Alternitavely, does any one know where I could find a schematic to build a cable that would work with this PLC over RS-232C? The guy that is building our new machine says he has software to program this PLC but no cable. The only cable schematic I found online is for RS-422, and I really dont have time to build a level converter. Maybe someone has a 232 cable that will work? Thanks guys, I'm desperate here!

Sorry, I'm not equipped to support your PLC but it never ceases to amaze me what you can find on Ebay, and in Ebay online stores. There are a lot of Ebay stores that specialize in PLC components.

P.S. Is THIS what you're looking for?

Or THIS?

They both list "Toshiba EX20". An M20 seems to be a laptop or PC.

I tried Toshiba Industrial, noyhing comes up in either the product or download search areas. I think Toshiba is not very good in supporting discontinued items, but in fairness, thiese are probably at least 15 - 20 years old

Update:
Since the edit time for the above posts expired, here is some new information I read in one of the manuals.
If you are going to get a Hand-Held Programmer, you probably need a Model HP100 instead of the Ex2040PRGD shown in the ebay link.
Here is a Copy & paste from one of the manuals:

Series compatibility -- Programs from the EX100, M20/40, EX200B, EX250 and EX500 are compatible. Peripheral
equipment can also be shared.
The M20 and M40 have all of the features of the EX100 with the enhanced CPU. This includes the real-time clock
calendar, RS485 connection, 4K of memory, and the same instruction set. They also use the same communication
protocol on both the programming and computer link (RS485) ports, so any software package written for one will work
with the other. The difference between the M20/40 and EX100 is the number of I/O. The M20/40 are "shoebox" PLCs,
while the EX100 is used for larger systems.

jrwb4gbm,

Thank you so much for all the help. I think the easiest thing to do is to find a mini, handy, or graphic programer. Or maybe a ex2040conv232 rs-232 adapter. I'll keep a look out on eBay! Thanks again.

Tony

I have some doubts that the EX2040conv RS232 adapter will do the job, based on the below information.
Download this manual for computer interface info:
http://www.toshiba.com/ind/data/tag_files/EXPDD250%20Manual_520.pdf
From page 4:
"Locate the RS232 to Current Loop Converter (For EX100/200/250/500
or M20/40 only). Part #EX25GP232A-TIC2"
If you can get one of these you can use a computer instead of a hand held.
Another link if you can't get the software:

One more link that may be of interest. I'm not sure if this will work or not, probably should contact the vendor for verification.

It would help a lot if you could post the exact model number on the PLC. Also, make and attach a close-up photo of the unit and the programming port if you can.
