Hi,

I've a doubts on PLC2/30 to be converted to PLC5/11 (8K) or PLC5/20(16K). I browse thru the web, found out that some PLC2/30 is 8K and some are 16K, so I wonder which one should I go for?

If PLC2/30 is 8K, can I use PLC5/11 or PLC5/20?

IF PLC2/30 is 16K, can I use PLC5/20 or PLC5/30?

The final questions is, can we use the same memory capacity as PLC2, when we convert to PLC5? I'm affraid conversion of PLC2 8K program will become 12 or 13K in PLC5 program? or vice versa?

Thanks.

Regards,
CK Chew

The question you should ask yourself is, how big is the project that I'll be converting? Check the PLC-2 memory usage and purchase the PLC-5 based on the amount of memory available.

For budgetary proposal, we need to recommend either PLC5/20 or PLC5/30 to customer before we can go on site to upload the program and check the memory usage. The rest of the I/O is remain the same, only change the CPU.

not memory but I/O

You might also want to think about the I/O size. I can't exactly remember but I believe the 2/30 had capacity of at least 8 racks of I/O. The 5/20 only has the capability of 4.
