Was considering using a micrologix 1400 on a future project, but our manager has decided to not renew our tech connect contract until the new budget for our company is final, sometime in Jan or Feb of next year. ( big mistake, but he does not want to hear it from any of us).
Was wondering if the software that I have would allow me to still be able to use the 1400?
I have the following.
Rslogix 500 - 8.10.00 (CPR 9)
Rslinx classic - 2.50.00.20 (cpr7)

Yes RSLogix500 8.1 will work.
If you have issues with RSLinx then just upgrade RSLinx Lite is free.

Thanks
What would be the big advantage with a 1400 over a 1100?
Have used the 1100 on a couple of projects since it had the ethernet connection.

The ML1100 only supports a maximum of 4 expansion modules (any type) and has only one serial port plus an ethernet port. The ML1400 supports a maximum of 7 expansion modules and has 2 serial ports plus the same ethernet capabilities.

I believe there is a subtle difference on CH0 (serial port) with the handshaking.

Oh...and it's more expensive than the ML1100! ;)

Regards,

Rob
