HI guys this is my first post I just started using the RS5000 I have used the rs500 for 12 years, and we build automated fixtures, we have always used the micrologix 1500 and a alpha 220c sign for letting the operator know what stage the machine is in, we have probably built 30 of these machines like this, no problem with getting the ASCII string file to the sign through channel 1 on the 1500, we went with a module frame with remote I/0 so we went with a compact logix L23e, Our customer converted our 1500 program over to the rs5000 software there was bugs I had to work out but I did get the machine runnnig but I can`t get and info sent to the sign, I made sure I set up the channel 0 with the user mode and baud rate at 9600 like it was on the micrologix, but I`m sure about the string characters we have this in the micrologix \^@\^@\^@\^@^AZ00^BAA\1B b\1C2START LACE VACUUM WITH FOOT PEDAL^D and when our customer coverted the program they had this $r$l$01Z01$02A0$1B0m$1C1$1E0START LACE VACUUM WITH FOOT PEDAL $r$l$04
I have made sure the character length is set right, I made a simple test bit up to make the sign work I can see the channel 0 light come on and go back off like its sending the string file but nothing works and one have any ideas or have dealt with this before? Looks like me there is a langague difference between the softwares how they read the string files I even tried this\^$00\^$00\^$00\^$00^AZ00^BAA\1B b\1C3START LACE VACUUM WITH FOOT PEDAL^D and still didn`t work please help

This is the equivalent I come up with as seen in the 'String Browser' for the string tag:

$00$00$00$00$01Z00$02AA$1b b$1c2START LACE VACUUM WITH FOOT PEDAL$04

Enter it exactly as shown. There is a space between the "$1b" and the following "b"

If the Compactlogix has a problem with sending nulls ($00) the display manual said something about being able to substitue $01s for them. There was also a 2 byte method for sending the control characters.

Hi there,

I think I am stuck in same situation.
I have an Alpha 220C display. Sending ASCII using 1734-RS232ASC module. I have the unit serial address set at 10. The wiring is checked.

See attached photo. Please let me know if I missed something.
