I tried to archive a Step 7 project today and ran into a problem I have not seen before. I have a customer with systems at several locations, so I store the project archives in sub folders under the customer name. For years I have not had any issues. Today however I tried to archive a project and it will not save it in the directory when I point to it. It stores it under the main archive directory with an abbreviated name, not the name I chose. If I take that archive and move it to the directory I originally tried to save it in, I can't retrieve it. I get an error that it can't be accessed. If I move it any where else I can retrieve it. I tried deleting the main directory and sub folders and recreating them, still won't work. I made sure that these directories have the same permissions that other folders that work do. Rebooted PC several times. Any suggestions on what might be wrong. Using Step 7 V5.4 SP5

Thanks,

Mike

I'm not sure how long ago it was but it has been sometime. I have been able to archive without problems until this instance. What is really strange is that it only seems to be happening for projects that were archived in sub folders under this one customer. All of the others still work OK. This project was fine until I tried to archive it this afternoon after making some changes yesterday. The other projects in the various sub folders for this customer haven't been touched in several months.
