Omron CJ1G and CXprogrammer 3.1

Hello and I am new here and very much a plc novice.

I have an OMRON CJ1G-H CPU43. We have several of these plc’s in identical machines in the field and they work fine. We built a 3rd machine and I downloaded the program to it. Now I cannot work online with the program. I get a “failed to connect to the PLC” error and it suggests power supply, connection, network settings of change plc dialog and finally make sure device matches type.
I am using cx programmer 3.1 and if I open the programmer and just connect to the plc it does so and I can upload the program if I want, I have several times just to make sure.
So I believe that I have a good working cable and the plc is on.
Is there something I am missing?
I thought to erase the program in the PLC but don’t know how to do that. I could then try to establish communications and re download the program.
Help please.

Found it

It was a com port mismatch. The existing program required a specific com port and the empty porgram used what was available.

you can change that in the project tree on the left hand window goto the symbol for the processor right click it and yuo will see "change" this will allow you to select the comport you are currently using

I think CX Programmer ver 3.1 does not support CJ1 series PLC. Please check. Or else check your communication settings.
