I'm trying to make the background transparent on a bitmap I have, I read the help and did a paste special and created a OLE opbject, is there a eye dropper or something so you can select back ground colour? I can't see a parameter for it? Is color 255,255,255 always invisible or something?

I usually just copy it into Paint and set the BG color to match the window color in Rsview32.

The only way I've been able to insert a picture with a transparent background is to save it as a GIF, and anything in black will be transparent when you insert it into RSView32 as an OLE object.

The Help file doesn't make perfect sense about BMP files in this case, since everything I've read says that BMP file format does not support transparency.

True black color (0,0,0) will give you transparent for your bmp file, but you need to enable the transparency option for that image. Here is my example using bmp file as transparent in FTView Studio, I think the transparent setting is quite similar in RSView 32. The bitmap on the left is the original image and the bitmap on the right is with transparency enable.

RSView32 does not have the same ability to select the Transparency property of a *.GIF file like FactoryTalk View Studio does.

I still wonder what the User Manual is referring to about linking a BMP file as an OLE object to allow transparency. Maybe there's a mask function I'm not familiar with.
