PV550 Communications change

I am not sure if this is even possible but..

I have a PV550 (DH+) that seams to have a defective main board and a new PV550 (RIO) in stock. Is it possible to swap the communication board (DH+) with RIO board of the new PV and perhaps update the firmware or whatever maybe and get a working PV550 (RIO) out of it?
