Hello to all,

The company where I've just started starting has a few PLCs of different brands and I was wondering which cables (and adapter if necessary) I needed for each of them. I have searched throughout the forums but the answers seemed kind of vague to me. Here is the list of PLCs for which I need to find a way how to communicate with and the information which I've gathered up to now. I just want to make sure everything would work fine.
Also, please suggest me what type of PLC any of the old ones could easily be replaced with using the same I/O slots. Thanks for everything.

AB Micrologix 1100 Series A
AB Micrologix 1000
----------
Allen Bradley cable - 1761-CBL-PM02

OMRON SYSMAC CPM1A
-------------
Omron adapter - CPM1-CIF01
Omron cable - C200HS-CN220-EU

OMRON SYSMAC C200H-MP831 CPU01
--------------
Rack mount #C200H-LK201
CPU mount #3G2A6-LK201
Omron cable - CQM1-CIF02

Replace with CS1 PLCS when possible

FESTO CPX-FEC-1-IE
---------------
??

MITSUBISHI FX1N-40MT
---------------
Mitsubishi cable - SC09

You have answered them all correct.... all but the Festo and I have no idea

What/Why do you want to replace them? they are all good PLC's, If you do replace them you may just want to convert the programs to one brand it would be easier for you maintenance department for troubleshooting

For festos cable, look at their site, there is Online catalog.

If I recall correctly it has serial on computer side and rj-11 or rj-45 on plc side.

My doubts were mainly with the OMRON plcs.

I had written to Elston Systems, Inc. and they had replied me that:

<<For a CPM1 PLC you need a
CQM1-CIF02 cable.

I am not sure on the C200H but I think you need a
C200H-CN229-EU
which we do not have.>>
Which is pretty different than what I found out on the forum.

For a CPM1A, I read I needed a C200HS-CN220-EU
and for a C200H CPU01 I needed a CQM1-CIF02, which is just the opposite. I've also read I could need a C500-CN221-EU for the C200H-LK01.. so which is it? That's mainly what is getting me confused.

Also, where do I find the information for switches on the Omron adapters for the communication settings?

DO NOT try to use the CQM1-CIF02 on the C200H-CPU01.
The connector will fit, but you may damage the CPU.
You must use a Host Link (C200H-LK201 or 3G2A6-LK201) with C500-CN221-EU cable.

The adapter and cable you listed is correct for the CPM1.

Host Links do NOT work with CS1 series.
Peripheral port cable is CS1W-CN226. Serial port cable is C200HS-CN220-EU.

I would recommend you check out geniusintraining's website for cables. www.plctrainer.net. Great prices and fast service!

Hope this will help.

Thanks gtsuport.

I will use this for the OMRON plcs then:

OMRON SYSMAC CPM1A
-------------
Omron adapter CPM1-CIF01
Omron cable - C200HS-CN220-EU

OMRON SYSMAC C200H-MP831 CPU01
--------------
Rack mount #C200H-LK201
CPU mount #3G2A6-LK201
Omron cable - C500-CN221-EU

I was thinking of making the cables myself. I found both the C200HS-CN220-EU and C500-CN221-EU diagrams and while searching on Google I fell upon this:

http://www.scribd.com/doc/15088203/Cable-Omron

I'm curious as to what the little differences between the C500-CN221-EU and C500-CN222-EU cables are since it seems both of them can be used with either the rack or cpu mount.

Capo,

The difference is on the computer side.

The C500-CN221-EU connects to a 9 pin on the computer side.

The C500-CN222-EU connects to a 25 pin.

Hope this will help.

Thanks for everything. By the way, where could one buy a CPU mount #3G2A6-LK201 nowadays? My PLC rack is full so I unfortunately don't see how I can go with a Rack mount #C200H-LK201...

What is the difference also between these: 3G2A6-LK201, C20-LK201, 3G2A6-LK201-V1, 3G2A6-LK201-EV1

All the 3G2A6 part numbers are the same unit, just different versions. Any of these will work with the C200H.

The C20 unit will only work with the C20 flat pack or C--K units.

Take a good look at the part number.
This is an LK202. The LK202 units are RS422 (4 wire) devices.

The LK201 is a RS232 device.

The LK202 will work, but you will need a RS422 port on your computer.

Hope this will help.
